LADY GWENDOLYN JONES CARSWELL
Our Co-Founder and Ministry Matriarch, Lady Gwendolyn Jones Carswell was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida where she attended Elementary, Junior High and High Schools. She is the oldest daughter of four children born to the late David Jones and the late Aresia Mathews Jones.
Lady Carswell holds a B.S. degree from Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona Beach, Florida, School of Education, and a M.A. degree from Atlanta University (now Clark-Atlanta University), Atlanta, Georgia, School of Education - Guidance and
Counseling.
Lady Carswell, after 28 years of service, retired December 2011 from the City of Atlanta. During her tenure she held the following positions: Watershed Manager of Procurement Services, Management and Human Resource Analyst, Sr. in the Department
of Watershed Management, Assistant Director for the Bureau of General Services, Contracting Officer for the Bureau of Purchasing and Real Estate and Secretary for the Bureau of Motor Transport Services.
Lady Carswell is the recipient of several awards and recognitions, among which are
“Sigma of the Year”, Eta Sigma Chapter, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.; Scholarship Awardee, Georgia Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing; and, “Employee of the Year”, Bureau of Purchasing and Real Estate. Lady Carswell holds membership in the following organizations: Life Member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. She has held the following positions: Grammateus (Financial Secretary), Chairperson, Miss Rhomania Scholarship Contest, Past Chairperson, Project Reassurance/Community Service, and Past Basileus (President) of Eta Sigma Chapter, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Atlanta, Georgia; Past Southeast Regional Chaplain, Past Southeast Regional Anti-Grammateus (Recording Secretary), and Past Southeast Regional Nominating Chairperson of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc; Charter Member #36 and Past Historian of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), and Past Service Unit Director and Troop Leader, Northwest Georgia Girl Scout Council.
God blessed Bishop and Lady Carswell with two beautiful children -Mrs. Quinae’ Aresia Ford (Elder Marques) and Elder Quincy Lavelle Carswell, II (Dr. April) and three wonderful grandchildren - Matthew Alexander and Miya Allison Ford and Quincy Lavelle Carswell, III (Trey).
